Dr. Jane Maxwell
Dr. Jane Maxwell is a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated in 1999 with a Masters in Community Counseling and in 2008 with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Maxwell has worked as a counselor in various settings such as community counseling, a university setting, private practice, and with elders at a rural hospital and aging services agency. Using a variety of counseling approaches, Dr. Maxwell works to suit the needs of the individual client and issues being addressed. Her approaches tend to be client centered and emotion focused therapy. Dr. Maxwell has worked with client issues not limited to life transitions, divorce, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life stress, women’s issues, body image, LGBT issues, and grief. Dr. Maxwell earned a Certificate in Gerontology and has an interest in working with caregivers, older adults, aging issues, and families struggling with stress due to caregiving. Dr. Maxwell strives to view the strengths and potential in each client and works to understand the origins of the problems and then find coping strategies to foster personal growth and a better quality of life. Jane is passionate about humanitarian and social issues. Jane enjoys going for walks, spending time with family, and watching movies and documentaries.
