Katie Ramirez is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) with a Masters of Arts in School Counseling and an Educational Specialist in Counseling degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
Katie has extensive training in various play therapy approaches with children, adolescents and adults. She is also a certified EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization Processing) provider. Katie has specialized training on the integration of EMDR and Play Therapy. Katie uses a variety of therapy approaches including Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Existential Approaches. She approaches counseling from a perspective of working to identify what will be most beneficial to the individual. Katie has also completed training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Katie has worked in a variety of settings and enjoys working with people of all ages, abilities and experiences including LGBTQIA+ individuals. She has experience in working with individuals who have experienced childhood trauma and the symptoms that arise from people’s adverse experiences. Katie also has education and experience working with individuals who are nuero-diverse and approaches nuero-diversity with the view that there is nothing “wrong” – rather that something is different. She continually works to educate herself and understand different approaches to best empower her clients to work towards self-awareness, peace, safety and happiness.
When not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, practicing yoga and listening to and playing music.
